Match Analysis:
Toss: India. The Indian batsmen revelled gloriously in ideal batting conditions; England's failed to do them, or themselves, justice. Gooch lost his off stump in the fourth over, offering no stroke to an in-swinger, and Gower and Lamb had been run out by the twentieth over. Smith gave the innings its purpose, reaching fifty from 42 balls and thumping most of the eleven fours in his 103 (105 balls). Admirable partnerships with Atherton and Russell made the scorecard read 246 when he got out @ the 49th over. The remaining 5 managed only 35. Cameos from Sidhu, Vengsarkar, Shastri and a patient knock from Manjrekar held India's hopes together. India required 145 from the last twenty overs, and Tendulkar scored 31 from 26 balls adding 63 in seven overs with the felicitous Azharuddin, who went on to score 63 from 44 balls as India again won with two overs in hand.

Infosacten Report : Sachin came to bat when India required 95 runs and played some outrageous shots while adding 63 in seven overs with Azharuddin. Sachin bowled his first ever over in an ODI match. Incidentally, he happens to bowl medium pace that time
