Match Analysis:
Toss: South Africa. India ensured victory in the three-match series after another poor performance by South Africa, though the game was overshadowed by the revelation that the touring team had, in effect, accused the Indians of cheating by tampering with the ball during the opening match. Having been put in after fog delayed the start, India's openers, Sidhu and Srikkanth, put on 130 in 28 overs. The later batsmen failed to capitalise on this start and South Africa were going well at 144 for three. But the Indians held some good catches in the deep - Kapil Dev's to dismiss Richardson was superb - and the result was not in doubt for long.

Match Analysis:
Toss: India. South Africa's first officially blessed representative match in almost 22 years, first one-day international and first-ever game against India attracted a crowd widely claimed as beating the world record for a day's cricket of 90,800. However, Jagmohan Dalmiya, president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, said Eden Gardens now contained 90,452 seats and estimates putting the attendance higher included all the various officials, pressmen, policemen and peanut vendors.Wessels's 50 was made too slowly. South Africa were given some hope when Donald took three wickets in his first four overs, but Tendulkar and the débutant Praveen Amre took India towards victory. Even in defeat, the South Africans were still overwhelmed by the occasion: I know how Neil Armstrong felt when he stood on the moon, said their captain Rice.

Infosacten Report:
This was Sachin Tendulkar’s 19th match and he got his 3rd Man of the Match award. Sachin Tendulkar who came when India was tottering at 3 for the loss of 2 wickets played a brilliant innings which included 8 boundaries and a six. He played sensibly along with Indian Captain Mohammed Azharuddin & debutant Pravin Amre adding crucial 40 and 56 runs for the 4th & 5th wicket respectively before Donald struck once again for the Proteas dismissing Tendulkar for an individual score of 62 runs from 73 balls.Sachin’s performance made sure that India won the match by 3 wickets remaining with 6.2 overs to spare.Sachin Tendulkar & Allan Donald shared the Man of the Match award for the brilliant performance in a match which saw both teams fighting tooth & nail till the finish.

Match Analysis: Toss: India. Pakistan set up victory with the highest score of the tournament, and made sure of it through Aqib Javed's hat-trick. It was the seventh in limited-overs internationals, and his figures of seven for 37 were the best in all such cricket. He initiated India's collapse in his first over, dismissing Sidhu, but the fatal blows were struck in his third, as Shastri, Azharuddin and Tendulkar were lbw to the third, fourth and fifth balls. Aqib's performance overshadowed his colleagues' earlier exploits: Zahid Fazal and Salim Malik added 171 for the third wicket; Zahid had hit eight fours and a six in 120 balls when he was carried off the field with cramp.

Infosacten Report: This was one of the bad days for the Master when he got out on a duck and couldent do much with the ball also giving off 24 runs from his 5 overs with no wickets.

Match Analysis: Toss: Pakistan. A growing injury list forced Pakistan to call for reinforcements. Their first three batsmen in this match had just flown in, and the left-hander Aamir Sohail played the decisive innings in a close encounter. His 91 came from 132 balls. Another of the newcomers, Zahid Fazal, gave worthwhile support. An opening stand of 124 from Shastri and Kambli put India in a good position, but a superb catch by substitute Mushtaq Ahmed to dismiss Tendulkar tipped the balance, and Kapil Dev was trapped first ball. In fading light, 12 from Waqar Younis's last over was too stiff a target.

Infosacten Report: Sachin played quick firing knock of 49 runs in 38 balls which included three 4's and two 6's. Sachin also took the catch of Aamer Sohail at 91 on Kapil Dev's bowling restricting A Sohail from scoring a century.

Match Analysis:
At Sharjah, October 22. India won by seven wickets. Toss: India. India had never beaten West Indies batting second in a one-day international, but when Azharuddin asked his opponents to bat they stumbled to 145 all out, and a third successive win put India through to the final. The unlikely instrument of West Indies' downfall was Tendulkar's gentle medium pace. Though India lost Raman with one run on the board, Sidhu and Manjrekar put them on the right track with 107 for the second wicket. When they were dismissed in quick succession, Tendulkar and Azharuddin raced to victory with more than 12 overs to spare.

Infosacten Report : This was Sachin Tendulkar’s 16th match and he got his 2nd Man of the Match award. The unlikely instrument of West Indies' downfall was Tendulkar's gentle medium pace. Match Analysis: Toss: India. Azharuddin secured the Asia Cup and the Man of the Match award with an unbeaten 58 in a final postponed for 24 hours and then shortened by rain. The game was also notable for a hat-trick from Kapil Dev, who had Mahanama caught behind off the last ball of an over, and removed Jayasuriya and Ratnayake with the first two balls of his next. Sri Lanka were thus reduced from 176 for five, a score owing much to the 58-run fourth-wicket stand between Gurusinha and Ranatunga (56 balls), to 181 for eight. India lost their openers cheaply, but they were rescued by a third-wicket partnership of 91 from Manjrekar, whose undefeated 71 anchored the innings, and Tendulkar.

Although the tail folded fairly quickly they were able to set a target of 215, to which India proved quite unequal. The home team paid the penalty for their decision, based on the premise that the pitch would deteriorate, to bat first. Ramanayake bowled a tight line at medium pace to pick up the first three wickets, and Anurasiri and Warnaweera, with contrasting spin, sent the others sliding to a poor total of 136, with nearly ten overs unused. India's hopes of making a fight of it, when Sri Lanka's openers went cheaply, were dispelled by De Silva, who waited for the loose ball to drive, cut or pull. His captain, Arjuna Ranatunga, was the ideal foil, and their unbroken stand of 82 made a telling contrast with the Indians' surrender to their apprehensions about the pitch. De Silva struck eleven fours and scored 63 in 76 balls, steering his team to Sri Lanka's second one-day international victory in India.

The Indians changed their strategy, putting their visitors in to exploit the early damp conditions, and Sri Lanka's slow progress seemed to vindicate the decision, until the left-handers, Gurusinha and Arjuna Ranatunga, pushed the score along in a stand of 97. The turning-point was Tendulkar's misfield and subsequent throw from long-on to run out Ranatunga. India's reply began with well-paced stand of 76, but when the openers went, Manjrekar and Azharuddin were pegged down by spin. Again it was Tendulkar who tilted the scales: he hit 53 from 40 balls, with seven fours and a six. Azharuddin had the satisfaction of striking the winning runs as India registered their second one-day series triumph under his captaincy.

Match Analysis: Toss: Sri Lanka. India's victory was built on a solid opening partnership of 133, after impressive seam bowling from the Sri Lankans had restricted Shastri and Sidhu to 67 from the first 25 overs. They almost doubled that score in the next five overs of spin, and Tendulkar enlivened proceedings with a 22-ball 36 (three fours and two sixes, both off Labrooy). As the innings closed Shastri reached his hundred, which had taken 147 balls and included twelve fours and a six. Sri Lanka's run-chase centred around the brilliance of De Silva. After early setbacks, when three batsmen fell for 21 runs, his stand of 94 with Tillekeratne looked like putting the match in the balance. However, the rising run-rate proved too much for him, and he was out soon after completing his maiden century in one-day internationals, from 118 balls.

Toss: India. The Indian batsmen revelled gloriously in ideal batting conditions; England's failed to do them, or themselves, justice. Gooch lost his off stump in the fourth over, offering no stroke to an in-swinger, and Gower and Lamb had been run out by the twentieth over. Smith gave the innings its purpose, reaching fifty from 42 balls and thumping most of the eleven fours in his 103 (105 balls). Admirable partnerships with Atherton and Russell made the scorecard read 246 when he got out @ the 49th over. The remaining 5 managed only 35. Cameos from Sidhu, Vengsarkar, Shastri and a patient knock from Manjrekar held India's hopes together. Toss: India. The match was reduced by rain to 49 overs a side. On a murky morning, India batted first in a typical Wellington wind. They profited from a fluent partnership between Prabhakar and Manjrekar, which provided 58 for the second wicket. Azharuddin produced his usual magic, Tendulkar contributed 36 from 39 balls, and Kapil Dev, who had not batted well throughout the tour, was at his best in hitting 46 from 38 deliveries. New Zealand made a laboured start, but Greatbatch and Rutherford put on 80 for the fourth wicket at a rate which argued that New Zealand would win at a canter. The ensuing collapse, however, left Hadlee trying to win the game single-handed. So well did he counter-attack that New Zealand needed 11 runs to win from the last over, with two wickets in hand. Hadlee hit 4, 2, 2, but Snedden was run out off the fourth ball, which produced a single. Kapil Dev then bowled the perfect yorker as Hadlee tried to hit the winning runs.

Saeed Anwar, the young left-hander recalled to the Pakistan side, was the only one of their batsmen to shine, lifting the ball cleanly to hit four fours and two sixes. Although the target was a moderate one, in the swinging and seaming conditions Pakistan's four-man pace attack struck at regular intervals and pushed India behind the asking-rate. Fine catching in the outfield accounted for some of the Indian batsmen as they attempted over-ambitious strokes under pressure.

Infosacten Report : Inspite of a duck in his first ever match, Sachin went on to become one of the greatest players, the game has ever produced :-)
